Open call to musicians and poets – online submissions
This is an open call to musicians, poets and spoken word artists to present new works on the theme of ‘sanctuary’.
Entries can take the form of recorded music, an instrumental, storytelling, poetry recitation or a mixture of genres. Entries must portray a strong message or feeling that addresses the theme. Open to all creatives of faith and no faith. Works produced within the last 12 months will be considered. A nominal fee of £75 is offered to nine shortlisted acts. Shortlisted acts will be expected to take part in an online cultural evening, perform online for 30 minutes and submit high quality recordings of their pieces.
To submit your work: email up to three film footages or links with details of the submission, alongside a statement saying what contemplation, spirituality or faith means to you personally, giving links to any previous work*
Email your entry to Saif Osmani (Coordinator) at the following email address: schoolofsufiteaching@gmail.com, putting the title ‘Sanctuary’ within the title of your email. Call 07915 234 404 if you have any questions.
This arts programme coincides with the opening of a new Zawiya by the School of Sufi Teaching (London) and is supported by Amal (a Saïd Foundation programme).
*All entries have to be digitally submitted by the deadline for consideration. Shortlisted acts are expected to showcase live during an online cultural evening – exact date to be confirmed, expected in summer 2020. New works created within the last 12 months will be considered.
